History

Our company has a very long his history with  growing flowers. Wim Ammerlaan sr. started to grow roses together with his brother Emiel on the Aalsmeerderweg in Rijsenhout in 1975. First, they took over the greenhouses of their father. In 1980 the company moved to the present location on the Lavendelweg at the other side of Rijsenhout. During that time this was the first company at this side, which has nowadays developed to a large, modern horticultural area. In three phases the company that time grew to a size of 23000 m2. The cultivars grown in this period were sweethearts like Carolien, Motrea and Mercedes.

In 1988 the cultivation shifted from soil to a rockwool substrate One year later the first assimilation lighting was installed in the greenhouses. Cultivars grown in the nineties were Frisco, Lambada and Bianca. The white T-Hybrid Bianca has been introduced by our company. This nice white variety has developed to a leading white rose variety in the T-Hybrid assortment in the nineties.

After Emiel moved to Klazienaveen in 1999 to start up his own rose farm, Wim sr. and his wife Mieke took over the company in Rijsenhout. In this period the assortment changed to intermediates, like Sphinx and Splendid Renate. In 2003 the greenhouses were expanded to 33000 m2, and the company started to grow the red variety Passion.

In 2005 and 2006, a lot has changed within the company. First, the sons Frank and Wim jr. joined the company after their studies Business Administration and Plant Sciences. In December 2005, a new rose farm has established in Ethiopia and at the Dutch farm, 1,5 hectare of roses is replaced by Hydrangea’s. Last year the cultivation on our farm in The Netherlands was completely changed to hydrangea.
