AQ Roses cares for their employees!

At this moment we have around 1100 employees, mainly women, which all live in the nearby town of Ziway. Because motivated and healthy employees are the backbone of the company, we are trying to keep them involved in the company. In cooperation with our workers, we have established a workers councel, to give our employees the possibility to give their opinion on the company processes.

 

Hospital

On the compound of Sher Ethiopia a very modern and extensive hospital has been built. Our employees can use this hospital for first aid, for pregnancy, for medication etc. fully paid by the company. Also a HIV-AIDS clinic has been established. We are trying to inform our employees for the dangers of this problem, among other things by drama and music.

 

School

Children of our employees can make use of our nursery and primary school at our compound, which will develop over the years to a school for children from 5 to 18 years.

 

Holidays

Roses have to be harvested every day, also on holidays like Christmas and New Year. In cooperation with our employees we are often have a party on these holidays after finishing work with food, drinks and music of course.

 

Safety

To protect the safety of our employees we have a very strict policy regarding to crop protection. During spray, our employees are forced to wear spray masks, gloves, rain suit and rubber boots, to avoid any contact with crop protection chemicals. Furthermore our employees are only allowed to enter the treated area after several hours. Pollution of surface water by chemicals is strictly avoided.
