Environment

AQ Roses is located 200 km southern of Addis Ababa in a countryside city, Ziway. This city is located on the shores of Lake Ziway, one of the beautiful Ethiopian Rift-Valley lakes. The Rift Valley is a huge valley which divides East-Africa in two parts. The climate in the valley is pleasant and dry. The Rift Valley lakes in Ethiopia are known for their beautiful nature and fantastic birdlife.

Ziway

Ziway is a nice little town with around 80,000 habitants. Life in town is mainly determined by the lake and has besides floriculture as main source of income fisheries and irrigated vegetable cultivation on the shores of the lake.  

Lake Ziway

The lake has a surface of around 400 km2 and is the largest lake in the Ethiopian Rift Valley. It is a very popular place for tourists, because of the beautiful typical African scenery, surrounded by mountains. The lake is famous for the beautiful birdlife. Abundantly present bird species are White Pelicans, Marabous, Saddlebills, Yellowbill Storks, Kingfishers, Fish Eagles and many others.
